Greetings from Cape Town

I am studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa as part of Swarthmore's program called Globalization, Environment and Society. The program includes 12 students from Swarthmore, Pomona, and Macalester as well as two local students going to the University of Cape Town. All of the students live in a house together by the campus.

The first six weeks of the program are spent in a core course, essentially learning about the history of South Africa and focusing on globalization and environmental issues. In the middle of February, classes start at the University of Cape Town. Each student in the program will take two courses at the university and do one semester long research project that embodies the themes of the course.

I hope you enjoy this blog which will be updated throughout the spring semester.
